Melanie Abramson started dancing at the age of 14 taking classes at Halifax Dance. Since then, Melanie has trained with Penny Evans, Andrea Leigh-Smith, Kym Butler, and Mary Lou Martin and traveled to San Francisco and New York on dance vacations. Four years ago Melanie moved to Toronto and joined a semi-professional dance company, PushPull. Melanie’s stage experience goes all the way back to high school; we won’t say how far back. On stage performances and choreographic credits include PushPull’s Conversations, Benefit for Guatemala, Fiddler on the Roof (choreographer), J.L. Ilsley Fashion Show 1999-2004 (choreographer), TAG’s Red Riding in the Hood, Jack and the Beans Talk, Spirit for Evermore and Beauty and the Beast (choreographer), and of course TSDC’s shows in 2004, 2007 to now. Melanie is now a Registered Massage Therapist, specializing in dance and sport injury and rehabilitation, she works out of her home and at Citadel Physiotherapy. This training comes in handy as members of thirtySomething gear up for their show. Since last year Melanie has found a permanent dance partner in her finance Rob, who proudly supports her in this insane “cool” hobby.
